The whole event was staged in one of the gardens with the sky as the ceiling. It was nicely set up.

The mature trees around the property too gives it a very jungle-like feel. To some, it may appear scary. I took this picture at midnight looking straight up. You can just about see the full moon through the leaves.

At night the hotel is bath in warm light. Very romantic.

By this time I was hungry and I decided to try this steak joint. The steak was just so-so.

What I find interesting about this mall is that they provide tram service disguised as a train on the floors!

By evening, I happened to come across the Grand City Mall. A huge mall filled with high-end brands. Surabaya is the second largest city and historically, there are a lot of monied people here.

Traffic is really bad. Good thing there are pedestrian crossings at strategic spots on the roads.

Looking out to the street from the entrance of the hotel you can see the main service centre for the Seiko Watch Group (which also includes Alba).

If you face the entrance of the hotel and turn to the left, just above the ground floor is a plaque commemorating the event that spark the Indonesian Revolution. It is here that Surabayans climbed up to the roof to tear down the Dutch flag and hoisted the Republic of Indonesia flag.

The is a pool. Not big but then the number of guests is not expected to be many anyway.

In the bathroom, the toilet and the shower are in two separate rooms.

In the bedroom, the cupboard is a standalone furniture. There is also a standing mirror.

The rooms are very stately. Segregated in three sections. The sitting area, the bedroom and the washroom. The design and the overall fittings in the room are classic in nature.

You can sit and enjoy an afternoon tea in the gardens.

What sets apart this hotel is its many gardens. Every room faces a garden.

There is also a display of an old hotel car.

The hotel is a two floor structure spread over a large area. The lobby is tastefully designed.

Initially called the Oranje Hotel, it was renamed Yamato Hotel in World War 2 when the Japanese used it as a prison. In 1945 it was called Merdeka Hotel where the spark of the Indonesian independence from the Dutch started. In 1946 it was renamed the L.M.S. Hotel and finally in 1966 it got its current name.

After that we went to the Warriors' Memorial Park. Surabaya is the place where the war of independence started.

The first stop is the Semporna Cigarette Museum.

It took one hour to get from the airport to the city.

With everyone on the bus, we started towards the city. However, before we head to the hotel, there will be a short city tour and a pit-stop for lunch somewhere.

The 44 sitter bus has a smoking room! It also has a bathroom that is specific in nature ("Khusus Kencing" - Only for Peeing).

After a three hour flight, we arrived at Juanda Airport near Surabaya. After going through the immigration and customs formalities we waited for the bus to pick us up to go to the City.
